Perimeter Security System is a complex of hardware and software means designed for early detection of attempts to intrude the protected area. In general, such a system consists of the following elements:

• set of sensors or sensor cable
• signal transmission system – cable or wireless
• signal receiving and processing module (analyzer)
• PC with software installed (possible).

Perimeter protection is a complex task, effective solution of which requires optimal combination of a physical barrier that makes it difficult to enter to the object, and security alarm means. This section presents options for perimeter protection structures in terms of some manufacturers. In practice, more equipment from different manufacturers and of different models is used.

The main difference of perimeter security systems from other safety tools (such as access control system and video surveillance) is detection of intrusion into the territory (and, therefore, taking actions) in advance – before the intruder has time to achieve protected facility, located within the perimeter.
